Meet the NEC: Vice President

Time to get to know our new National Vice President, Zak Todd. Zak crossed into the Phi Lambda chapter in 2017 as a member of the Gamma Alpha Mu Epsilon class. During his time at the University of South Alabama, Zak played mellophone, french horn, trumpet, and steel pans. He also served his chapter as Webmaster, Secretary, and Warden. He graduated with a BFA in Animation and a BFA in Sculpture in 2020. Before becoming the new National VP, Zak had been a member of the NEC in the Webmaster role for 3 years. Some personal goals Zak has as National VP include : To reignite the flames of our dormant chapters and to focus on the education of current and new chapters.

To get to know him a little better, here’s a short Q&A. Feel free to comment below if you have any further questions and your question could be featured in next month's roota Report newsletter.

Why did you join Phi Boota roota?

“I joined PBr to further my knowledge of percussion and to improve myself through volunteer roles.”

What is your favorite memory you’ve made as a brother of PBr?

“My favorite memory as a brother of PBr has to be all of the drum circles I’ve participated in. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I enjoy the warm feeling of playing together as a family.”

Who is your favorite percussionist?

“My favorite percussionist is most likely Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers/Chickenfoot. Mainly because some of their songs are what piqued my interest in percussion.”

What is your favorite percussion instrument?

“I’ve always had a strong love for the steel pan drums. I’ve never been bored with a steel drum.”

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

“I would want supersonic flight, or super speed in general. I’m big into multitasking and traveling around the country, so I think the speed would help me get where i wanna go and be prepared for anything when I get there.”

What is a fun fact about you?

“I have conceptualized and designed around 200 characters in my career as an artist. I have also produced, hosted, and done voice work for various youtube/twitch channels”
