September Chapter of the Month
For our first Chapter of the Month blog, we are celebrating our Alpha Zeta chapter from Troy University. The AZ chapter was founded on October 5th, 1999 by Bryden Atwater and Will Doty. The chapter has had over 180 brothers. As one of the chapters that organized the first National Convention, AZ has maintained a significant influence on Phi Boota roota as a National organization. Ten AZ brothers have gone on to serve as National officers, including three of the seven National Presidents. Alpha Zeta is exceptionally proud to be the home chapter of our National Life Members Mark Turner and Johari Harris.

The Alpha Zeta chapter fulfills the purposes of PBr by serving Troy’s percussion studio and the Sound of the South marching band, as well as through community projects. Through fundraising efforts, the chapter has helped acquire new equipment and instruments for the percussion studio. The AZ percussion ensemble has brought the joy of percussion to local schools and the Boys and Girls Club. When the Troy bands need help safely moving percussion equipment, a PBr brother is often there, ready to lend a hand. The chapter also assists with the Southeastern United States band clinic, held at Troy. The Alpha Zeta chapter also has a history of philanthropy outside of the percussion realm, by collecting and distributing winter coats for kids, and much needed supplies for hurricane victims.
